The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation (iHub) invites applications for the position of Chair-Professor named “IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation Chair Professor” on a tenure basis at IIT Mandi Campus, Kamand Himachal Pradesh, India – 175075. 

About iHub IIT Mandi iHub and HCI Foundation (iHub) is a section 8 company established under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems (NM-ICPS). The vision of iHub is to make India a leader in HCI research globally. Based on faculty strengths, industry collaborations, and ongoing projects, the iHub’s focus will be on the following: technology (interface) development and evaluation, HRD & skill development, entrepreneurship, and collaborations. Objective The creation of the post is to focus on research and technology development in the area of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), which is an intersection of subject areas, namely computer science, industrial design, and cognitive science. The industry focus areas for HCI would be Healthcare, Environment & Agriculture, Defence & Security, and Information Technology. 

Number of open positions: 01 

Activities: The Chair-Professor will be expected to provide leadership in one or many of the following areas: 

• To act as an ambassador of HCI development and its industrial applications in the country. 
•  To catalyse innovation, research, and technology development and translation in the HCI domain. 
• To facilitate and undertake dissemination of technology upgrades in planning, design, and operation & maintenance for HCI through standards, guidelines, training, and through the build of a user manual as applicable.
• To actively participate in industry adoption of research and development initiatives undertaken by IIT mandi iHub in the area of HCI through the involvement and partnership of Indian and International academia and industry. 
•  To build, establish and nurture HCI-related labs and centers with specific reference to Industrial Design (UX & UI), Computer Science (AI/ML), and Cognitive Science (AR/VR and Mixed Reality) and expertise in IIT Mandi iHub under the guidance and support of IIT Mandi. 
• The activities of iHub comprise Research and Technology Development, Skill Development, Incubation & Acceleration, and Partnerships & collaborations. The Chair Professorship is expected to provide leadership to IIT Mandi in these activities.
