Cabinet nod to National Quantum Mission :-Taking a historic step in the field of information technology, the Union Cabinet has approved the National Quantum Mission, for which a budget provision of about Rs 6003 crore has been made. Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur and Dr. Jitendra Singh told a press conference after the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Wednesday that a proposal to this effect was approved in the meeting. He said that the work on the concept of this mission was going on since 2019 and now the government has started implementing it. Under this mission, special emphasis will be given on science and technology. Dr. Singh said that at present work on this technology is going on in only six countries of the world and there also work is being done in the research and development stage. Presently the countries doing research in this area include America, Canada, China, France and Finland etc.
