तुर्किये व सीरिया में फरवरी, 2023 के पहले सप्ताह में आए भीषण भूकम्पों से हजारों लोगों की मौत हुई। अनेक लोगों की मृत्यु राहत सहायता समय पर न मिल पाने के कारण भी हुई। इस दुःखद आपदा के समय राहत कार्यों में हाथ बंटाने के लिए भारत ने विशेष टीम वहां 7 फरवरी को रवाना की। इसमें एनडीआरफ के सदस्यों के अतिरिक्त सेना, वायु सेना व अन्य विभागों के जवान थे, जिनमें कुछ महिला कर्मी भी थीं। इनके लिए रातों-रात पासपोर्ट विदेश विभाग ने तैयार किए तथा वीजा की व्यवस्था की। भारत के इस राहत मिशन को 'ऑपरेशन दोस्त' का नाम दिया गया। इस मिशन के तहत भारतीय दल ने एक सप्ताह से भी अधिक समय तक वहां रहकर राहत एवं बचाव कार्यों में सहयोग दिया।

Thousands of people died in Turkey and Syria in the first week of February, 2023 due to severe earthquakes. Many people also died due to non-availability of relief aid on time. India sent a special team there on February 7 to assist in the relief work during this tragic disaster. Apart from the members of NDRF, there were soldiers from Army, Air Force and other departments, in which some women personnel were also there. Passports were prepared for them overnight by the Foreign Department and visa arrangements were made. This relief mission of India was named 'Operation Dost'. Under this mission, the Indian team stayed there for more than a week and cooperated in relief and rescue operations.
