What is Vibrant Village program
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched the 'Vibrant Village' program at Kibitu, a border village in Arunachal Pradesh. Under this programme, infrastructure in border villages will be strengthened.
What is the 'Vibrant Village' program of the government?
This program has been started for the development of border villages of the country. Infrastructure will be strengthened in villages of Arunachal, Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal and Ladakh. 2,967 villages in 19 districts of these states will be developed. Initially 662 villages have been identified. Of these, 455 villages are from Arunachal Pradesh. Kibitu is the first village in Arunachal to be developed under the Vibrant Village Programme.
What will happen in the villages through this program?
Within three years every house adjacent to the border will get water, electricity, gas cylinder and employment to the people. Electricity will reach through conventional and solar energy. Border villages will be connected to other parts of the country. IT based common service centers will be set up. Doordarshan will reach. Tourism and culture will be promoted. Livelihood opportunities like horticulture, cultivation of medicinal plants and herbs will be available through cooperatives at the local level.
How is this answer to China's infrastructure?
The border with China is 3,488 km long. The villages along the border are of strategic importance. The villagers here are called the eyes and ears of the army. But a large number of these villages are getting deserted, as people are going to the cities for employment. That's why the government has started the Vibrant Village Program. This will provide employment and facilities to the villagers there. China is strengthening infrastructure on its side, but it is not acceptable to India.
